June, which is recognized as a Pride month, is when we celebrate LGBTQ+ rights. It is time to honor the progress made in the fight for equality and to continue advocating for the rights of all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. It is also a time to raise awareness about the challenges that LGBTQ+ individuals still face in society.
Recently, Thailand became the first Southeast Asian country to legalize same-sex civil partnerships. This law is an important step towards equality and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community in Thailand and sets a positive example for other countries to follow.
But the question is, how are we going to celebrate as individuals? Well, I have an idea, and the idea is to watch the same movies and web series, order some food, and have a small gathering with friends to celebrate this milestone. The list contains amazing dialog, romance, chemistry, and representations of characters that will make our celebration even more meaningful and enjoyable. Here is a list of some of my favorite Thai series:
GAP: The Series
The Gap series follows the story of Mon, an idol who is surprised by the icy exterior of her co-worker Sam when they meet again at the office, despite Mon being a fan of Sam. The two leads have an 8-year age gap and different social classes. I couldn't get over this series. The chemistry between the two characters is undeniable and keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.
GAP is a highly popular Thai GL (Girls' Love) series that premiered in 2022 and has received an IMDb rating of 8.7/10. YouTube is where you can watch this series.
TharnType: The Series
There are two BL characters named Tharn and Type. Type, a freshman, is initially homophobic due to past experiences. His life changes when he gets a roommate, Tharn. This series holds so many emotions that you cannot skip a single episode. It is a must-watch for fans of the BL genre. You will be hooked from the very first episode. Two seasons and one special episode. You can watch it on YouTube.
1000 stars
1000 Stars is a heartwarming and emotional BL series that explores themes of love, loss, and connection. The plot focuses around Tian, who gets a heart transplant from Torfun, a volunteer instructor. Tian takes up Torfun's responsibilities and meets Chief Forest Officer Phupa. It's available to view on YouTube.
23.5
23.5 is another Thai GL series that has been mentioned as a good option to watch. It is a romantic drama that follows the story of Ongsa, who falls in love with Sun under the pseudonym "Earth." YouTube is where you can watch this series.
Blank: The Series
The show revolves around the age-difference romance between Khun Nueng, aka M.L. Sipakorn (Faye), and Anueng (Yoko). This is an ongoing show; trust me, the chemistry between the eyes is so intense that you won't be able to look away. Season 1 is complete, and the fifth episode of Season 2 has been released.
Blank is a Thai GL series that has also been positively reviewed, with an IMDb rating of 8.7/10. The series explores the relationship between the two lead characters. This series is available to watch on YouTube.
KinnPorsche
The story follows Porsche, a college student working part-time in a pub, and Kinn, a gang master. Kinn is plotted by the enemy and meets Porsche while escaping. Porsche rescues Kinn and becomes his personal bodyguard in exchange for money.
The Series is a Thai action romance drama television series based on a web novel of the same name by writing duo Daemi.
KinnPorsche explores themes of love, loyalty, and family dynamics set against the backdrop of a gangster world.
Love in the Air
"Love in the Air" revolves around two pairs of friends: Rain and Sky, and Payu and Prapai. Healing andtrauma The subplot of Sky's tragedy and Pai's efforts to help him heal is cited as a memorable and affecting aspect of the series.
The series explores the love stories and relationships between these four characters as they navigate the changing seasons, from the warm spring to the cold winter.
Show Me Love
Show Me Love is a Thai GL mini-series that premiered in 2023. It follows the stories of Meena, who dreams of becoming a singer, and Cherene, who gathers the courage to compete in a beauty pageant again. Love Senior
Love Senior is an ongoing Thai GL series that has been recommended as a good watch for those new to the GL genre. It is a lesbian romance drama starring Anda and Lookkaew as the main leads, Manaow and Gyoza. The series has received positive reviews for its portrayal of queer love and the chemistry between the lead actresses. The series is available on YouTube.
Bad Buddy
Bad Buddy is "Enemies to Lovers." Which is kind of my favorite genre. The series follows the relationship between Pran and Pat, who have been childhood rivals. After Pran saves Pat's sister, their rivalry fades, and they develop romantic feelings through music.
In addition to delving into the complexity of forbidden love, personal development, family relationships, and sexuality, "Bad Buddy" also features endearing and unforgettable moments that differentiate it from other BL series. It is available to watch on YouTube.
